Museum Visitor Code of Conduct

Welcome to Sullenberger Aviation Museum (SAM)! SAM is a place where visitors discover the joys of innovation, STEM, and the stories of the past, present, and future of aviation. We are grateful for your support in championing our mission to inspire, educate, and elevate the next generation of innovators. If there's anything specific you need or if we can assist you further in advancing this mission, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are here to help facilitate a safe and enjoyable experience!

To ensure a positive experience for all visitors, we kindly ask that you adhere to the following code of conduct:

  1. Respectful Behavior
  • Please treat fellow visitors, museum staff, volunteers, and exhibits with courtesy and respect.
  • Refrain from any behavior that may disturb or inconvenience other visitors' museum experience.
  • Offensive, abusive, threatening, or violent language or behavior is prohibited
  1. Quiet Enjoyment
  • Maintain a respectful and contemplative atmosphere, especially in exhibition spaces.
  • Refrain from using personal devices with audio inside the galleries. If it is necessary to make a phone call or use audio, kindly step outside to ensure minimal disruption to others.
  1. Photography and Filming
  • Still and video photography are permitted for non-commercial use only. For the safety of our visitors and collections, tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are never permitted.
  • Avoid using flash photography, as it may damage artifacts.
  1. Exhibits and Artifacts
  • Refrain from touching aircraft, artifacts, or exhibit cases unless otherwise indicated.
  • Keep a safe distance from aircraft.
  • To preserve their integrity, refrain from sitting, writing on, or using exhibit displays as tables.
  1. Restricted Areas
  • Going behind or climbing on barriers, stanchions and/or fencing is not allowed for any reason.
  • Entering employee-only areas is not permitted.
  1. Children’s Supervision
  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • For all visitors' safety, running is prohibited within the museum premises as it poses a significant risk of injury. We kindly ask everyone to walk calmly and responsibly while enjoying the exhibits.
  • To ensure an enjoyable and peaceful environment for all visitors, loud play is prohibited within the museum galleries.
  • Refrain from using wheeled shoes or skateboards at the museum.
  1. Food and Drink
  • Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries unless specifically offered during a special event.
  • No outside food or drink is allowed on the museum campus.
  • Alcohol is prohibited on museum grounds unless specifically offered for a special event.
  • Consume snacks and drinks in designated areas only.
  • Chewing gum is prohibited in all museum spaces.
  1. Backpacks and Bags
  • Backpacks and large bags are not allowed in the museum. All other bags must be carried in a manner that avoids contact with exhibits.
  • Use provided lockers for storage, if necessary.
  1. Cell Phones
  • Please set cell phones to silent mode.
  • Take phone calls outside.
  1. Personal Belongings
  • Keep personal belongings with you at all times.
  • Do not leave bags or items unattended.
  • Weapons/firearms/explosives (including fireworks) of any kind are prohibited on museum grounds.
  • The use of drones is prohibited on museum property without FAA clearance.
  1. No Tobacco
  • Smoking is prohibited in all museum spaces.
  • Chewing tobacco is prohibited in all museum spaces.
  1. Emergency Instructions
  • Please familiarize yourself with emergency exits. Follow staff instructions in case of an emergency.
